- Systems design compliment existing structures and operations and are to be seamless integrations into existing utilities.
- Project costs: $18 million est. (when completed)
| Santee Unified School District | 3 MW Photovoltaic System | Santee CA |
- Currently engaged in a 9 campus master planning effort for distributed site electrical utilities integration with a large scale photovoltaic system.
- Providing design services for custom solar support structure common to each of 9 school site, for DSA approval as a typical structure on California school campus applications.
| Stone Brewery | 250 KW Photovoltaic System | Escondido CA |
- Engineering and design services for the 250KW photovoltaic system at the landmark facility and an icon in micro brewing in North San Diego County.
- System provides an offset to 50% of the brewery electrical usage during peak periods and continues with the GREEN building elements currently in place at the location.
- Unique 5 and 7 up racking systems with limited roof penetrations created access to fire accessible skylight system.
- Project costs: $2.7 million
| Safeway Regional Grocery Stores | 2 MW Systems (total) | Various Southern California Locations |
- Engineering and design services for multiple store locations with photovoltaic systems sizes ranging from 175KW up to 325KW per location.
- Created standards of design to be used consistently across each site.
- Coordination with each utility design staff and electrical switchboard manufacturer for custom bussing fabrications at the systems point of connections.
- Project costs: $3.5 mil (est.)
| NRG Downtown District Plant | Central Plant Upgrade | San Diego CA |
- Multi-phased project to expand the plant capacity by 400%. Horizontal expansion of the property was not a possibility; therefore all of the added equipment for the plant upgrade had to be contained within the same footprint area resulting in a complex internal mezzanine design.
Phase 1
- Plant expansion project increased capacity from 3000 tons to 12,000 tons.
- Cable tray system designed to support pumps and motor control centers above existing distribution and chillers.
- Capacity expansion of the plant carefully sized and planned resulting in the 100% utilization of the existing dual 4160V services.
- Total design and construction period took only 8 months to complete.
- Project Cost: 17 million - Total change orders less than 2%
Phase 2
- The existing SDG&E substation feeding the plant was required to be removed to accommodate the construction of Broadway 655. Design of a new customer owned substation within the plants existing boundaries was required.
- Design of a mezzanine structure to split the new 7.5MW unit substation so that sufficient area was maintained for the addition of future plant equipment.
- Project Cost: 1.5 million - Total change orders less than 1/2%.
Phase 3
- Re-configuration of the 12kV utility loop to support the new tower on Broadway.
- Demolition of the old 4160v utility substation.
| Solano County District | Central Plant | Fairfield CA |
- Addition of a 2000 tons of chiller capacity and a 1.4 megawatt Waukesha generator with waste-heat recovery to serve Solano County government complex. A total of 3 megawatts co-generation capacity at completion of project.
- Hot and chilled water distribution piping to all buildings.
- 12.47 kV and telecom underground distribution to entire campus.
- 21 kV substation upgraded from 3000 kVA to a 7500 kVA.
- Engine control and existing co-generation board upgraded from 4000A, 480V to a 5000A, 480V system.
- The central plant project tripled the square feet and the capacity of the district plant while most all function of existing plant remained on-line.
- District Plant Project Cost: 22 Million, Government Center Project Cost: 85 Million
| NBC Tower | Central Plant Upgrade | Downtown San Diego CA |
- Insufficient capacity in the tower′s main bus risers required the addition of an additional 2500A bus riser. The bus riser was designed and installed up the center core of the building from the basement to the roof.
- The main service switchboard was completely rebuilt and the bussing re-designed to accommodate the additional building load. The 60′s era modified switchboard underwent rigorous UL inspections and the final design was fully approved by all agencies.
- Entire project from the initial design proposals through design, procurement, construction and final commissioning: 7 months.
- Project cost: $3 million
