PROJECT DETAILS

  • Existing Central Plant on 23rd story of a downtown high rise.
  • Remove two 400-ton direct gas fired absorption chillers.
  • Install two 400-ton high efficiency variable speed water-cooled centrifugal chillers for the primary load.
  • Install four 80-ton high efficiency variable speed water-cooled centrifugal modular ‘pony’ chillers for the nighttime and part load conditions.
  • Tenant 24-hour occupancy of the building required minimal shut down time

Tanner Engineering in partnership with Cartmell & Associates provided design and consulting services and Newel FastTrack provided pre-construction and construction management services to American Assets and the Irvine Company in order to upgrade an existing central plant in downtown San Diego. Newel also provided a complete 3D layout and shop drawings for the bus duct that ran from the basement to the rooftop central plant.
